Big Or Small... We Love All Dogs

So many times in life when aging adults are looking to downsize into a senior or a 55+ community, they're often met with a big N-O if they have a dog that weighs more than 30 lbs. While we'll admit, some of the great pups are quite small, we also understand that active adults often enjoy the companionship of larger, more active dogs.

For that reason, Choreograph Gainesville has implemented a "We love ALL good dogs!" policy. All well-behaved dogs are welcome, regardless of the breed

Why? Well, first of all, we're all dog lovers. We understand that not everyone likes the same type of dogs and we'd never ask someone to give up their pet to live at our community.

Second, we understand that breeds don't dictate behavior. For that matter, neither does gender, size or color of their fur. As long as the owner is responsible and the dog is well-behaved, they're all welcome!

Being a pet owner is important, especially for seniors and aging adults. Here are a few great reasons why:

  • Companionship: Dogs make great companions and can provide aging adults with a sense of purpose and responsibility. Plus, having a dog around can also help alleviate loneliness and depression.
  • Increased physical activity: Dogs need regular exercise, which means the dog owners will also be more likely to get outside and be active. Even a short walk around the block with a dog can provide significant health benefits.
  • Improved mental health: Studies have shown that interacting with dogs can help reduce stress, anxiety, and depression. (Let's be honest, pet snuggles are the best!)
  • Socialization: Dogs can also help seniors and aging adults socialize with other people, such as other dog owners they may meet at Barks & Bubbles or at the Dog Park.
  • Health benefits: Research has shown that owning a dog can have positive effects on their owner's health, including lower blood pressure, reduced risk of heart disease, and improved immune function.
  • Security: Dogs can provide a sense of security and safety for aging adults are living alone, as they can alert their owners to potential dangers or intruders.

Overall, having a dog can greatly enhance the lives of seniors and aging adults, providing them with companionship, physical activity, improved mental health, socialization, health benefits, and a sense of security.
